With this past work in mind the Island Roundtable formed in the fall of 2013. A short time later we became aware of measures being taken to revive the British Columbia Round Table on the Environment and Economy …and in late March 2014 a press release was issued by the Honourable Mary Polak, Minister of the Environment.
BC’s excellent record of encouraging local and regional Roundtables to form and contribute to sustainable development ensures that local experience and knowledge will be shared to help foster involvement and partnerships throughout the province.
The Island Roundtable on the Environment and Economy looks forward to working with the new British Columbia Round Table on the Environment and Economy. We see our coastal and regional approach adding Island insights and recommendations to provincial goals, as well as building bridges across sectors that will foster discussion and partnerships.
